The Bennington College Middle Eastern Ensemble began as a course offered in Spring 2022 which introduced students, staff, and faculty to playing the music of the Middle East and neighboring areas. Directed by ethnomusicologist and Bennington Music Faculty Joseph Alpar, the ensemble will perform a diverse program drawn from Syrian traditional music, Turkish psychedelic rock, Greek urban blues, Israeli and Lebanese love songs, Armenian folk, and much more. Be prepared to dance and clap along with us!
