Downtown Bennington transforms into a festival of arts, crafts, activities, food, & entertainment. This year there will be over 145 crafters and artisans from throughout New England featuring handmade crafts of wood, pottery, glass, metal, fabric, jewelry, and more. As always, School Street will be lined with ethnic treats including Indian, German, Italian, and American. You’ll also find favorites such as fried dough, gourmet seafood, wood fired pizza, baked potatoes, ice cream, and more!
The Walloomsac Farmers’ Market joins the vendors on Main Street during Mayfest. Make sure to give yourself lots of extra time to walk through the market and enjoy food demonstrations, samplings and, of course, local and fresh produce, meats, cheeses, and baked goods.
Mayfest isn’t just for adults though; there are lots of kid’s activities, contests, and games. The Vermont National Guard soccer challenge is always one of the biggest kid’s attraction along with football toss and dunking booth. The 4-H shooting range, face painting, and more also add to the fun.
Downtown Bennington may be host to over 145 vendors during Mayfest, but the best part is that it also boasts over 45 great shops as well. The Village Chocolate Shoppe, Bennington Bookshop, Crazy Russian Girls Bakery, Evans’ News, Jay’s Art Shop and Frame Gallery, South Street Café, Panache just to name a few! Downtown Bennington is also home to over 18 restaurants.
